Sequoia Park
More Fun for All
In 2017, thanks to a grant from Redwood Capital Bank and the State of California Office of Grants and Local Services, the City of Eureka hired Greenway to design and construct improvements to the Sequoia Park meadow playground. Our first order of business was to consult the community that would actually be using the park. Through our facilitation of several community design charrettes (with over 200 attendees), we gained essential insights in the needs of the community. One thing that stood out to us was the need for inclusive play areas for all children: the park was missing some needed improvements to accessibility. Working closely with the city of Eureka and community members, our design included new inclusive play features, new accessible parking and restrooms and new playground experiences for all children. Our construction team successfully implemented the project on time and on budget and we finished the project in July 2021.
