When we were approached by the McLean Foundation to help them implement their dream of a new center for the community to gather on 37 acres they had purchased adjacent to Newburg Park in Fortuna. We used our community-oriented approach alongside a like-minded foundation to create something explicitly for the community it is located in. We were able to work side by side with our client’s team of staff and board members to envision all phases of the project and master plan and develop a 37 acre campus, equipped with offices, classrooms, meeting venues, event spaces and facilities for seniors, youth and families, recreational areas, open space, wildlife habitat, trails and restored wetland areas.
We got to work with a like-minded organization doing our favorite kind of work, and struck a perfect balance of People, Places and Profit. We led all phases of the project from master planning, to entitlements and land use permits, architecture, engineering and construction management over the course of four years and achieved the client’s vision for their project; a new, beautiful gathering place for the entire Eel River Valley community.
