School Energy Improvements and Building Commissioning

Greenway is working closely with school administration and facility personnel of several local school districts to improve energy efficiency in their existing facilities as part of California's Clean Energy Jobs Act, Prop 39. We are testing the indoor environment, planning energy improvement services, preparing and managing documentation, offering technical assistance, and providing support in acquiring incentives, rebates and grants. We will also oversee project implementation and manage needed construction. The "one-stop-shop" approach we offer allows local educational agencies to select only needed services from our suite of offerings.

What is Prop 39?

The California Clean Energy Jobs Act (Prop. 39) provides funding for energy improvements for schools and school districts throughout the state. This Act changed the corporate income tax code, allocating projected revenue to California's General Fund and the Clean Energy Job Creation Fund for five fiscal years, beginning with fiscal year 2013-14.

Under this initiative, Humboldt County schools are expected to receive approximately $3.1 million in 2013-14 for eligible projects that improve energy efficiency and expand clean energy generation in schools. Greenway is enabling area schools to take advantage of these funds by providing skilled energy assessment and planning services, as well as construction management through contracts to individual schools and educational agencies.

Building Commissioning and Retro-commissioning

Building Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning is the assessment of a building's energy efficiency and system effectiveness. Poor energy performance is often attributed to out-dated equipment, improper design or installation, and/ or deferred maintenance. Greenway's Commissioning services include conducting energy assessments, preparing energy management plans to increase efficiency, and overseeing needed construction to install system upgrades.
